Coconuts Land

This photographic and narrative reportage was born from a journey made between February and March 2025 along the south-western coast of India, crossing the region of Kerala. The project focuses on the communities living in the backwaters, in rural areas and on the urban fringes, within one of the country’s most densely populated territories. Here, despite the pressure of tourism and climate change, forms of everyday life persist—still shaped by the rhythms of nature: water that governs movement, light that sets the pace of work, the sounds of houses and boats replacing traffic. Through color images, mostly shot on film, the reportage observes objects, gestures, and presences that speak of a daily life poised between resilience and transformation. It is a visual inquiry into the subtle harmony between people and environment, and into the visible remnants of a balance that endures, even as it is being tested. This project is currently ongoing.
